Valley Yarns #232 Keen on Krokbragd PDF

You might not know how to pronounce “Krokbragd,” but you’ll sure know how to weave it after following this fun and thorough draft from our founder, Barbara Elkins! Enjoy weaving up Valley Yarns Keen on Krokbragd, delightful pillows in our Collingwood rug wool using this traditional Swedish technique. Directions include a short sampler for getting the hang of Krokbragd before starting the pillow tops.

Equipment: Sturdy 4-shaft loom with 20” minimum weaving width, four ski or stick shuttles or a combination at least 12” long each. 14” pillow form and usual sewing supplies—walking foot highly recommended.
Warp Yarn: 285 yards Maysville 8/4 Cotton Carpet Warp (100% Cotton; approx. 800 yds, 8 oz tubes) shown in 28 Ecru
Weft Yarn:
    Valley Yarns Collingwood Rug Wool (80% Wool/ 20% Nylon; 900yds/lb –1.1lb cones)

            98 yards shown in Gray Blue

Warp Length: 3 yards of 95 ends (includes 2 ends for floating selvedges)
Sett: 6 epi (1 per dent in a 6-dent reed or 1-0- in a 12-dent reed), 45 ppi – Three picks are required to complete one pattern unit. 15 pattern units (45 picks) equal one inch.
Finished Dimensions: 12” square and 2” deep (Fabric is designed for a 14” pillow)
